Project: Statue of Unity, Worlds largest statue built in Gujarat, India
Worlds largest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which was constructed in 2018, with 21,0000 m3 of concrete, 18,500 tonnes of reinforcement, 6500 tonnes of structural steel, and 1800 tonnes of bronze.
Challenge
After the concrete and steelwork, bronze cladded panels were to be connected to the truss frame to support the weight of the cladding system and resist earthquake and wind forces. Also, the clad panels were designed to have overlapping panels that allow the vertical and horizontal movements of panels.
The challenge was to create and provide effective sealants that could hold the panels together and give a seamless look.
Solution
Project: Surat Diamond Bourse, Worlds Largest Office Building in Gujarat, India
The Surat Diamond Bourse, as the complex is called, has a floor space of 660,000 sq m compared with the 600,000 sq m for the US armed forces celebrated headquarters.
The whole complex consists of nine interconnected 15-story towers containing 4,200 offices, serviced by 131 lifts, with speeds of 3m/s, and are surrounded by amenities such as conference halls, meeting spaces, restaurants, banks, and shops. There is also a customs house with a national diamond research institute, an international convention center, international education facilities, and five-star hotels.
Challenge
Procuring and delivering the right solution needed for a project of this size and volume was one of the biggest challenges we have dealt with. Testing the application quality and performance of the solution provided by us was another huge and critical task on our hands.

- Looking at the requirement, we suggested high-performing silicone sealants and the application technique best suited for holding the panels effectively and strongly even against weather forces or disasters like earthquakes or storms.
- The further challenge was to create a seamless look by making the sealant colour match the bronze colour of the panels.
- Sealants generally are available in white, black, or grey shades.
- Maintaining the quality of the sealant we devised a perfect combination to create the bronze shade that matched the colour of the panel.
- Our innovative approach and meticulous work earned us the complete project of not only sealants but also tile adhesives, water-repellent, and the testing and checking of the application of chemicals and the workmanship involved.
